Sometimes if you work too fast shortly before a big race, it is not a good thing. Just look at Funny Cide’s pre Belmont 57 and change and that proves true.

But, Hard Spun ran fast numbers before the Derby and it proved only one thing- that he was ready to roll. Of course, Larry Jones was happy with that work for Hard Spun where as the work seemed too fast for the connections of Discreet Cat.

Still, the same may prove to be true for Discreet Cat, especially at a mile distance. He needed his last race and it may have given him enough so that he is at hist best Friday. And, a Discreet Cat at his very best is one cat we wouldn’t bet against.
