Horses that have done well at Monmouth in the past, may be horses not to be ignored this weekend. English Channel and Honey Ryder finished 1-2 in their last Monmouth race.

Any Given Saturday registered a most impressive win over the Monmouth in the Haskell over Curlin who didn’t handle it all that well. Of course, that could have been the heat that day that bothered Curlin, not the track as trainer Steve Assumunsen said.

Lawyer Ron also ran a very close second his last time at Monmouth.

Now, if the track is wet, instead of looking at Monmouth’s track, look at who runs well in the mud. Danzon and Honey Ryder love soft turf, so their chances in the rain improve dramatically.

The horses that have done well over synthetic horses are also horses that may do well over a wet course. But, that is anyone’s guess.
