Speaking of forgotten horses, among the ones that saddens me the most is Mom's Command. Mom's Command was owned by Pete Fuller and was 1985 Champion 3-year Filly. She took New York's Triple Tiara: Acorn, Mother Goose and Coaching Club American Oaks. She won at distances from 51/2 furlongs to a mile and a half. What's more she won almost all her races while being ridden by Pete Fuller's daughter, Abigail.

I saw Mom's Command win the Alabama at Saratoga, she was truly an beaujtiful, impressive, chesnut girl. She never ever seems to get mentioned when people talk about great race mares, but she certainly was that. She was finally elected to the Racing hall of fame after her death in 2007. Her son Jonesboro just won the G2 Corn Husker stakes.

I think that the story of Mom's Command and Abigail Fuller would make a wonderful TV movie.

A beaitiful read. I agree with the top three, especially Exceller. He deserved far better. If any writers are reading these comments, please consider writing a book on Exceller. His story needs to come forward for the better treatment of horses. I find it interesting that in the Daily Racing Forms work on the best horses of the century, 'Champions, the Lives, Times, and Past Performances of America's Greatest Thoroughbreds", Exceller made their list even though he won no titles (this work contains only eclipse title holders). It is as if they thought he deserved one so they included his career in their work. RIP Exceller.
